Tech Turn Up, a dynamic organization dedicated to bridging the digital divide and empowering students in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region, is seeking talented STEAM Instructors.

Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of innovators and leaders in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM)? If so, Tech Turn Up seeks experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team.

Tech Turn Up offers a series of hands-on classes, hackathons, and workshops designed to introduce students in grades 3-18 to a wide range of technology and creative arts fields.

Our events, held both in school, after school, and on weekends, aim to foster creativity, problem-solving, and career exploration in a supportive and engaging environment.

As a STEAM Instructor with Tech Turn Up, you will deliver a pre-planned curriculum emphasizing technical skills and creative thinking. You will lead students through interactive activities, oversee group work, and collaborate with mentors from various industries to create a meaningful learning experience. Your role will also involve working with our assistant support staff to ensure a safe and organized environment for all participants.

This position demands a strong commitment to 3-12 STEAM education, punctuality, and a proactive attitude. Ideal candidates will possess patience, creativity, and the ability to adapt to the needs of diverse student groups. Prior experience working with K-12 students is preferred, as is a passion for positively impacting underserved communities.

Junior STEAM Tech Teacher

Location: Prince George's County and or Montgomery County, MD
Job Type: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour

At Tech Turn Up, we're on a mission to bridge the educational gap in the Washington, DC area. As a Junior STEAM Tech Teacher, you’ll help craft and deliver an engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) curriculum designed to empower K-12 students.

Schedule:

  • Days: Tuesday–Friday

  • Hours: 4:00 PM–6:00 PM (2-6 hours per day)

  • Program Duration: Fall Program

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with youth (Elementary–12th grade).

  • Background in STEAM education, particularly technology.

  • Familiarity with tools like Scratch coding, basic coding concepts, Design Thinking, and app development.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of individual learners.

  • Comfortable traveling to sites in Prince George's County and Montgomery County.

  • Relevant certifications or degrees in STEAM-related fields are a plus.

Required:

  • Background check, pre-employment sexual misconduct/child abuse disclosure, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons centered on technology and STEAM concepts.

  • Collaborate with educators to integrate technology into project-based learning activities.

  • Foster critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students.

  • Maintain and manage classroom technology, including Chromebooks and projectors.

  • Supervise students during classroom and field activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
